Selangkah is a comprehensive tool that pioneered contact tracing in Malaysia and has been evolving consistently with society’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was introduced in May 2020 as the Selangor government’s solution in managing the spread of Covid-19 within the state using data science and Artificial Intelligence.

As the pioneer QR code-based contact tracing system in the country, Selangkah successfully helped the government control and prevent transmissions in Selangor by identifying those who may be at risk of being infected.

The team behind the technology, Artificial Intelligence in Medical Epidemiology (AIME) Sdn Bhd, had realised that besides people’s lives, their livelihood also needed saving. With Selangkah’s help, merchants were able to reopen their businesses and operate safely during the pandemic.

Rapidly gaining momentum, AIME aspired to go far beyond contact tracing in order to provide better service to the people. It constantly seeks to evolve into a full ecosystem built to beat Covid-19 all while improving Selangkah users’ lives.

In order to do that, AIME joined forces with SELGATE Corporations, a wholly owned subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) to form Selangkah Ventures Sdn Bhd (SVSB).

With the new “Senang Buat Semua” tagline, SVSB launched a mobile app equipped with both health and commercial features that are aimed to assist users in facing the pandemic.

They include registration platforms for Covid-19 screenings and vaccination, remote monitoring tools for home quarantine, an e-wallet for welfare distribution and a contactless payment facility for SME merchants.

With more plans of growth in the pipeline, the Selangkah brand strives to introduce more digital solutions and ultimately help build a safer environment for all.
